As We Anxiously Await
This week begins the start of the Advent season as we anxiously await the coming of the birth of Jesus.
Pastor Phil taught from Luke 2 and focused on the expectations around Jesus’ birth. First, about an angel of the Lord appearing to shepherds and telling them the news. Then about a man named Simeon who had been told by the Holy Spirit that he would live long enough to see the birth of the Messiah. Imagine being any of those individuals, KNOWING the arrival of the Messiah is imminent. How overwhelming their anticipatory joy must have been! Make it your goal this Advent season to enter into those same emotions.
Pastor Phil ended with some advice:
-Cultivate an attitude of anticipation.
-Pray, seeking Christ’s presence.
-Imagine your joy at His coming.
-Tell others what you’re experiencing.
The celebration of the arrival of your Messiah is coming! Rejoice!
