Dear Friends at Los Altos,

As the year 2017 comes to an end, my heart is so grateful for your partnership financially, prayerfully and encouragingly (is that a word)?. Thank you for joining me and making it possible to step into the lives of young military wives and single women stationed here at KBay.

Because of you and the God given opportunities that have opened up, women and children are having their eyes opened to the reality of what Christmas is all about…The birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ.

Our weekly Bible study group continues to grow in exciting ways:

  • new babies (we have 30 kids in child care just from nursery to 4 year olds);
  • new friendships as families continue to move here for the first time;
  • support for one another as many husbands deploy and the wife is left here alone with her children to “hold the fort down”. It takes amazing inner strength and positive attitudes to persevere.
  • The most exciting thing is to watch them grow spiritually as they get into the Bible every week, study the passages, listen to the teacher and then share openly what is going on in their lives in our small groups in relationship to what they are learning. I see marriages being strengthened, relationships healed, better parenting is taking place, and transformed attitudes about what life brings their way. God’s presence is clearly moving among them. And there are some that are making big decisions because they don’t just know about Jesus anymore but they are really getting to know

So this Christmas, I want you to know that you are making an impact over here. You may not be here physically but God is using you to change lives. I want you to know how grateful I am for you and the sacrifice you are making. And I want to wish you the best Christmas ever as you spend time with your family and friends.

There’s a new song that I heard this year called, “The Sweetest Gift” by the Piano Guys. For those of you who have lost a loved one this year or in years past, I encourage you with these words from the song. They can’t be here with us, but they are with the one who we are celebrating today.

You’re with the Son of God
You’re with the Prince of Peace
You’re with the one who’s celebrating
And that thought amazes me
Sometimes I still break down
Grieving that we’re apart
But the sweetest gift is knowing where you are
Cause you’re with the Son of God

From my heart to yours, Merry Christmas
