After much prayer and God’s provision, we are pleased to announce our new Director of Student Ministries at Los Altos Grace – Jacob Baumer!
Jacob has been a teacher and coach at the Lakewood Christian Schools since 2012 and is finishing up teaching this school year and then will begin to serve in student ministries at Los Altos Grace.
In 2010, he graduated from California State University Long Beach, with his degree in Business Administration – Management. He has attended Long Beach Grace Brethren Church from 2006 through 2017. During his time there, he served as a small group leader in the high school ministry from 2009 through 2017. He attributes everything about his life, including his career, residence, relationships, and hobbies to the opportunities the Lord has presented him through youth ministry.
In his free time, Jacob enjoys playing and watching sports (specifically the Lakers, Rams, Angels, Ducks, and USC), and was formerly a professional ultimate frisbee player. He is also a big fan of music and movies, and thoroughly enjoys reading good books. So if you ever need a movie or concert buddy, or have a book recommendation, don’t hesitate to reach out!

Here are a few sentences of recommendation for Jacob from Principal Brenda Barton of Lakewood Christian Schools:
Jacob has been a teacher and coach here at Lakewood Christian for the past five years. He is a wonderful teacher. He is a godly man, who has high standards for his 6th – 8th grade students. He makes learning enjoyable, and the students all love him. His work ethic is praiseworthy and his skills are unending. His creativity adds to his natural teaching skills to create a fun learning environment.
Yet, Jacob’s real strength lies in his relationships with his students. He has a pastor’s heart. He invests in his students’ lives by attending games or events, coming along side those who struggle, or having deep conversations with those who need to be heard. He is passionate about teaching students how to live their lives for the Lord. He does all of this on his own time, outside of school hours.
Let’s thank the Lord for bringing Jacob to our church and welcome him warmly!
